Village Paws and Claws originally opened in December 2006 in Birkdale Village. In June of 2008 we moved to Mooresville into a temporary location and into our permanent location in October. Doing this enabled us to add grooming services to our business. Canine Cabana N’ Clips, which was originally located in downtown Mooresville, moved its operations to Village Paws and Claws in April of 2009.

 

Our philosophy is simple: Bring the best possible nutrition, service, care and products to the pets and people of our community at the best possible prices. We pride ourselves on giving our customers and their pets personal attention, accurate information, and products that are good for pets and good for the environment.

 

We are a family-owned and operated business and strive be a positive part of our larger family, the community. Being an active participant in our community is important to us, and we often work with local rescues, shelters, and other small businesses in order to help raise awareness and money for animals in need of loving homes as well as promote local businesses in the area.

 

                                                    

Diesel, Head of Operations, lover of all things dog, people and food related.

 

 Diesel’s a Dutch Shepherd, a breed that is known for its intelligence and trainability. Dutch shepherds are working dogs by nature, but Diesel has worked his way up to the good life, and his position at Village Paws and Claws could best be described as “Public Relations.” Diesel is a hands-off type of boss and pretty much gives Rick free reign to place orders, run operations, and talk with customers, as long as Diesel gets to say hello first. He is also the inspiration for the VPC newsletters.

 

When he’s not “working,” Diesel likes to play, run, eat, and chew things up. He’s also a big fan of napping. But his favorite thing to do is to greet our customers and their pets at the door, wag his tail, and make himself look irresistible to all who cross his path.

 

                                           

Mason and Dixie, Cat Product Consultants and food connoisseurs.

 

Cats don’t work. We all know that. You won’t see them much at the store, but behind the scenes Mason and Dixie do lower themselves enough to do some consulting work for us. Mason is our primary dry food and treat connoisseur. During the day he sleeps and occasionally taunts Diesel. At night, Mason doesn’t like to be alone, so he flits from room to room licking and kneading everyone awake until he is asked to leave. Dixie gives us feedback to help out customers with the pickiest cats. She only eats wet foods and prefers the finer cuts of meat and fish. A true princess, Dixie spends her days sleeping pretty much wherever she chooses, her early evenings hissing at Diesel, and her nights purring away in bed with one of the family members. She rarely gets asked to leave.
